Ways to get family and friends involved in your pregnancy

Being pregnant is an exciting time, not just for you but for your loved ones as well. Especially if this is your first baby. The people around you can be overwhelming with excitement which can sometimes lead to unwanted stress. Preparing to welcome a baby in to the world is an amazing time in your life and you should be able to share those special moments with the ones you love. Finding ways to make sure everyone is included and no one feels left out can be tricky, but if you get creative you can find a way to please everyone in some way. One of the best ways to do this is by assigning different baby related tasks to different family members or friends, or by including them in different aspects of preparing to meet your new little one. Here are a few ideas that might help.

Turn making your registry into a girls day!

One of the tasks you must do when having a baby is create a registry of things you want and need for your new baby. You can easily turn this into a fun day with your girls, grab some lunch and then take your girlfriends to the stores you plan on creating your registry’s at (bonus if any of your friends are moms they can tell you what are must haves!). Besides who doesn’t love looking at all the cute baby items. This will allow for you to spend some quality time with your friends while still allowing them to be a part of your pregnancy.

Have a gender reveal party or gathering

If having a huge gender reveal party isn’t really your thing you can always just have a small gathering and just call it a gender reveal. Having a gender reveal is a great way to involve a family member in your pregnancy. With gender reveals one person finds out the gender before any one else and comes up with a creative way to reveal the gender to the rest of the world. This can be somewhat of an honor in some ways and can make whoever you choose to find out first feel special. Maybe you could choose your mom, a sibling, an aunt, or someone else you are close with.

Invite your mom to come to one of your ultrasound appointments

Ultrasounds are one of the best parts of pregnancy. They are the rare chance you get to see your little one while they are still inside cooking. Sharing ultrasound photos with loved ones is always special but offering to let your mom come along for the live view is even better. Use this time as an opportunity to make your mom feel special and get to see her new grand baby for the first time (in 2D black and white haha) . Allowing your mom to be involved in the process is important and she can even give you some mommy advice while you all are there.

Invite your in-laws to help set up your nursery

While including everyone in your pregnancy don’t forget about your in-laws. Invite your in-laws over to set up your nursery, you’re going to need the help anyways. Your father-in-law and brother-in-law can help your husband put together the nursery furniture and your mother-in-law and sister-in-law can help organize and decorate. You’re likely to get tons of gifts at your baby shower and are definitely going to need help sorting and putting everything away before baby arrives. Inviting your in-laws over for some snacks and nursery fun is a great way to make sure they don’t feel left out of all the new baby preparation festivities.

Hopefully these tips find you well, they are just a few ideas to get you started with making sure everyone feels included. Being pregnant can seem overwhelming at times especially when you have loved ones anxious and excited to meet the new baby. Making them feel included in small ways can help alleviate some of the pressure.
